I would never tweak before I had spent a considerable amount of time with the stock version and knew exactly what I wanted to obtain from the tweak.
Having said that, you can always take a look at the crossovers. Replacing capacitors is mostly a win on older speakers, and other components can also be swapped to equivalent values but better types.
