I am interested in picking up a used AUDIOVECTOR S3 AVANT-GARDE unheard.
Is the AMT tweeter noticeably better than the regular dome tweeter in the lower models?
How noticeable is the affect of the switch on the back that affects the woofer?
How is the bass?
Any of the other features?

Not being intimately familiar with all past Audiovector models I can only answer in general terms.
The S3 Avantgarde is almost certainly a very nice speaker. The Audiovector AMT units are very good and the AMT version is bound to have a better and more expansive high-end reproduction than the dome tweeter models.
I have never heard the ARA switch in action, so I cannot say anything about that. In general, however, I quite like the Audiovector bass. At this shelf of the lineup the bass is not bottomless but it goes well below 40Hz in an authoritative manner and is both firm and precise.
